How to Use the Multi Episode Embed Block

The TransistorWP Multi Episode Embed block displays Transistor.fm's playlist player for a selected show. This is the block to use when you want visitors to browse and listen to more than one episode from the same podcast, without manually adding a separate player for each episode.

What the block does

The Multi Episode Embed block adds a Transistor.fm playlist player to your WordPress page. In TransistorWP, you choose:
  • Which show to display
  • Whether to use the light or dark player style
The playlist itself is handled by Transistor.fm. TransistorWP outputs the playlist embed for the selected show.

A quick note about episode count

The Multi Episode Embed block does not currently include an episode count setting inside WordPress. In the block editor, you can select the show and choose the light or dark player style. If you want to change how many episodes appear in the playlist, adjust that in your Transistor.fm show or player settings. This distinction is worth keeping in mind: TransistorWP places the playlist player on your WordPress site, while Transistor.fm controls the playlist player's contents and behavior.

Before you begin

Before using this block, make sure TransistorWP is installed, licensed, and connected to your Transistor.fm account. If you have not done that yet, start with Getting Started with TransistorWP. This block is most useful once your show has more than one episode.

Add the Multi Episode Embed block

In WordPress:
  1. Open the page or post where you want the playlist player to appear.
  2. Click the block inserter.
  3. Search for TransistorWP or podcast.
  4. Select TransistorWP Multi Episode Embed.
The block will load your shows from Transistor.fm.

Select a show

Use the Select a Show dropdown to choose the podcast show you want to display. If you have set a default show in TransistorWP > Settings, that show may already be selected. You can still choose a different show for this block.

Choose light or dark player style

Use the Light Embed toggle to choose the player style.
  • Turn Light Embed on for the standard light playlist player.
  • Turn Light Embed off for the dark playlist player.
This setting changes the appearance of the Transistor.fm playlist player. It does not change which episodes are included.

Save and preview the page

After selecting your show and player style:
  1. Save or update the page.
  2. View the page on the front end.
  3. Confirm that the playlist player appears.
  4. Test the player to make sure episodes can be selected and played.
The Multi Episode Embed block renders an iframe from Transistor.fm. If the player looks different from the single episode player, that is expected. It is a different Transistor.fm embed style.

Good places to use this block

The Multi Episode Embed block is a good fit for:
  • A dedicated podcast page
  • A show archive page
  • A "recent episodes" section
  • A host or speaker page
  • A landing page where visitors should be able to sample several episodes
If your page is about one specific episode, use the Single Episode Embed block instead. If you only want to feature the newest episode, use the Latest Episode Embed block instead.

Troubleshooting

The playlist player is not showing

Check that:
  • Your TransistorWP license is active
  • Your Transistor.fm API key is saved
  • The selected show exists in your Transistor.fm account
  • The selected show has published episodes
Then refresh the editor and preview the page again.

I do not see an episode count option

That is expected. The Multi Episode Embed block does not have an episode count setting inside WordPress. TransistorWP lets you choose the show and player style. The playlist player itself is controlled by Transistor.fm.

I want to display one exact episode

Use the Single Episode Embed block instead. The Multi Episode Embed block is for the playlist player.

I want the player to always show the newest episode only

Use the Latest Episode Embed block instead. That block is designed for a single automatically updating latest episode player.
