The
TransistorWP Single Episode Embed block lets you add one specific Transistor.fm podcast episode to a WordPress page or post.
This is the block you will probably use most often if you publish episode show notes, write blog posts around individual episodes, or want full control over which episode appears on a page.
What the block does
The Single Episode Embed block pulls episode details from your Transistor.fm account and displays the episode player in WordPress.
You can also choose whether to display:
- The light or dark version of the Transistor.fm player
- The episode description
- The episode transcript, if the episode has one in Transistor.fm
Instead of copying embed code from Transistor.fm and pasting it into WordPress by hand, you can choose the episode directly in the block editor.
Before you begin
Before using this block, make sure TransistorWP is installed, licensed, and connected to your Transistor.fm account. If you have not done that yet, start with
Getting Started with TransistorWP.
Add the Single Episode Embed block
In WordPress:
- Open the page or post where you want the episode player to appear.
- Click the block inserter.
- Search for TransistorWP or podcast.
- Select TransistorWP Single Episode Embed.
After the block is added, TransistorWP will load your shows from Transistor.fm.
Select a show
Use the
Select a Show dropdown to choose the podcast show you want to use.
If you have chosen a default show in the TransistorWP settings, that show should already be selected for you. You can still choose a different show for this individual block.
After you select a show, TransistorWP will load that show's published episodes.
Select an episode
Use the
Select an Episode field to choose the episode you want to embed.
The episode selector supports searching, which is helpful if your show has a lot of episodes. Start typing part of the episode title, then choose the matching episode from the list.
Once an episode is selected, TransistorWP stores the episode details with the block so the correct player can be rendered on the front end of your site.
Choose light or dark player style
The
Light Embed toggle controls which Transistor.fm player style is used.
- Turn Light Embed on to use the standard light player.
- Turn Light Embed off to use the dark player.
This setting only changes the player style. It does not change the episode, description, or transcript.
Display the episode description
Turn on
Display Description if you want TransistorWP to show the episode's full description below the player.
This can be useful for:
- Episode show notes pages
- Podcast landing pages
- Blog posts where the episode description adds helpful context
- Search-friendly pages where you want more episode text available on your WordPress site
The description comes from the episode details in Transistor.fm.
If no description appears, check the episode in Transistor.fm and make sure the episode has a description saved.
Display the episode transcript
Turn on
Display Transcript if you want TransistorWP to show the episode transcript below the player.
The transcript is displayed inside a collapsible section labeled
View Full Transcript. This keeps the page from feeling too long while still making the transcript available to visitors.
For this option to work, the selected episode needs to have a transcript available in Transistor.fm.
If you turn on the transcript option and nothing appears on the front end, the most common reason is that the selected episode does not have a transcript URL available from Transistor.fm.
Save and preview the page
After choosing your episode and block options:
- Save or update the page.
- View the page on the front end.
- Confirm that the correct episode player appears.
- If you enabled the description or transcript, confirm those appear below the player.
It is worth checking the front end, especially the first time you use the block. The editor shows the controls, but the front end is where you will see the final embedded player.
Good places to use this block
The Single Episode Embed block is a good fit for:
- Individual episode pages
- Show notes posts
- Blog posts that mention a specific episode
- Guest interview pages
- Resource pages where one episode is especially relevant
If you want the newest episode to update automatically, use the Latest Episode Embed block instead.
If you want visitors to browse several recent episodes, use the Multi Episode Embed block instead.
Troubleshooting
The block says to add my API key
Go to
TransistorWP > Settings and make sure your Transistor.fm API key is saved.
If you just added the API key, refresh the page or reopen the editor.
My show is not listed
Make sure the API key belongs to the Transistor.fm account that owns the show.
If the show was recently added to your account, wait a few minutes and refresh the editor. TransistorWP caches show data briefly.
My episode is not listed
Make sure the episode is published in Transistor.fm. TransistorWP loads published episodes for the selected show.
If the episode was just published, wait a few minutes and refresh the editor.
The description does not appear
Make sure
Display Description is turned on in the block, then check that the selected episode has a description in Transistor.fm.
The transcript does not appear
Make sure
Display Transcript is turned on in the block, then check that the selected episode has a transcript in Transistor.fm.
If the transcript was just added, update the block or refresh the editor and try again.
