The
TransistorWP Podcast Links block displays listen and subscribe links for your podcast on your WordPress site.
The links come from the distribution links you have set up in Transistor.fm. That means you can manage your podcast app links in Transistor.fm and display them on your WordPress site without rebuilding the same list by hand.
What the block does
The Podcast Links block creates a grid of podcast app buttons for the selected show.
Depending on what you have added in Transistor.fm, the block can display links for podcast apps and destinations such as:
- Apple Podcasts
- Spotify
- Pocket Casts
- Overcast
- Castro
- Castbox
- Amazon Music
- Deezer
- iHeartRadio
- TuneIn
- SoundCloud
- Podcast Addict
- Player FM
- Podcast Feed
The exact links shown depend on the distribution links available for the selected show in Transistor.fm. If a podcast app or directory changes over time, the important thing is whether that link is still available in your Transistor.fm distribution settings.
Before you begin
Before using this block, make sure TransistorWP is installed, licensed, and connected to your Transistor.fm account. If you have not done that yet, start with
Getting Started with TransistorWP.
You will also want to make sure your podcast distribution links are set up in Transistor.fm. The Podcast Links block only shows links that exist in your Transistor.fm show settings.
Add or check your distribution links in Transistor.fm
Before adding the block in WordPress, it is a good idea to check your links in Transistor.fm.
In your
Transistor.fm dashboard:
- Open the show you want to use.
- Go to the show's distribution settings.
- Add or confirm the podcast app links you want displayed.
- Save any changes.
Once those links are saved in Transistor.fm, TransistorWP can pull them into WordPress.
Add the Podcast Links block
In WordPress:
- Open the page or post where you want the listen/subscribe buttons to appear.
- Click the block inserter.
- Search for TransistorWP, podcast, or links.
- Select TransistorWP Podcast Links.
The block will load your available shows from Transistor.fm.
Select a show
Use the
Select a Show dropdown to choose the podcast show whose links you want to display.
If you have selected a default show in
TransistorWP > Settings, that show may already be selected.
The Podcast Links block only needs a show. You do not need to choose an episode.
Save and preview the page
After selecting the show:
- Save or update the page.
- View the page on the front end.
- Confirm that the correct podcast links appear.
- Click a few links to make sure they open the expected podcast apps or destinations.
The block opens podcast links in a new browser tab.
Why some podcast apps may not appear
The Podcast Links block only displays links that TransistorWP receives for the selected show.
If a platform is missing from the front end, it usually means that platform link has not been added in Transistor.fm for that show.
For example, if you have not added an Overcast link in Transistor.fm, TransistorWP will not display an Overcast button.
Where to use this block
The Podcast Links block works well on:
- A podcast homepage
- A dedicated "Listen" page
- A sidebar or footer section
- A podcast landing page
- Episode show notes pages
- A page where you explain how to subscribe to the show
This block is especially helpful for visitors who discover your podcast through your website but prefer listening in a podcast app.
Troubleshooting
No links are showing
Check that:
- Your TransistorWP license is active
- Your Transistor.fm API key is saved
- The selected show is correct
- Distribution links have been added in Transistor.fm
If you just added links in Transistor.fm, refresh the WordPress editor and preview the page again.
One podcast app is missing
Check that the missing app link is set up in Transistor.fm for the selected show.
The block does not create podcast app links on its own. It displays the links that already exist in your Transistor.fm show settings.
The wrong show's links are showing
Open the block and choose the correct show from the
Select a Show dropdown.
If new Podcast Links blocks keep selecting the wrong show by default, update the default show in
TransistorWP > Settings.
I want to change the order or style of the buttons
The block uses TransistorWP's built-in layout and styling for the podcast buttons.
If you need a highly custom layout, you may need to add custom CSS in your theme or site editor.
